THE STUD

Situated just at the edge of Devon, we live at what must be close to horse-heaven. The background of this page is made from a snapshot out of our windows - we are surrounded by 55 acres of beautiful countryside - tiny lanes, wildlife and our own fabulous rich grazing land.

We have guest-rooms for customers and prospective clients who come from a long way away - and some of our owners use this to drop in from time to time - even though they sometimes find themselves with a mucking out fork or a brush in their hand. Here everyone mucks in (and out..)

A stud is mainly it's stallions - and we are no exception, only we stand rather an eclectic variety of them, from the British bred Out Of The Blue, via the Polish Warmbloods and the Dutch Warmblood to the spotted Moonraker and the TBs.

However - there are a number of things we look for when selecting stallions to offer to our customers, and however different these stallions are from one another, they all have the following things in common - as anyone who visits us will testify :

• Every one of our stallions has an exceptional temperament. In fact a visitor to our last Open Day ( watch the News page for details of the next one ) accused Barry of having doped the stallions. ( Ask us about the story some time .... ) Of course much of their laid back happy attitude is to do with the way they are kept and trained and handled, but they all have a calm friendly and trainable temperament by nature and this of course shows in their offspring. If you see a nutcase at a show it's unlikely to be by one of ours. 

• Every one of the stallions at Centyfield has good correct movement and athletic ability. Some have outstanding movement and exceptional athletic ability. Too many people breed for colour and colour alone. Not us. We don't want to produce striped or spotted ornaments, we want to breed, and sell, and enable you to breed, equine athletes that will go on and do whatever their owners would like to do, be it in the Showring, the Dressage Arena, at Riding Club Events or just as a super Hacking Horse. We've done it ourselves, those horses are, depending on their age and level of training - going out there and proving themselves.
